    Spot Light Wiring Question

I need help please with wiring up driving lights for a D3.
I bought a pair of 45w HID's and wiring harness which all fitted fine.
I connected the "supply" for the switch to the blue/black wire on the RHS (drivers side) up above the light. I read somewhere that this is the wire to the highbeam.
However, it has charge all the time, so the driving lights come independently of the highbeam and are not switched on by the highbeam, just the on/off inside the car.
So, it seems like I have used the wrong input for the high beam supply or is there something special about the wiring?
I used this wiring diagram, which is pretty standard.
Any advice on what I have done wrong would be appreciated,
    thanks,

The wiring diagram shows blue with black trace as the RH high beam supply so as long as it is actually going to the light assembly rather than somewhere else, it should be correct. You could check it with a multimeter without the relay or switch connected to prove the point.

As Graeme has said, the coloring is correct as long as it is the headlight wiring.
The opposite head light is a Blue / Orange trace.
I would test with a meter/test light to make sure you have the correct wire.
    Cheers

Just need to remove the test light quote....don't want an airbag to blow his head off.

    Discotwinturbo,
    Good call,
I was thinking in my head when at the headlight plug, but it didn't come across that way

    Cheers

Too late anyway as a relay has already been connected and operated.

Check that the relay has an inbuilt diode across its coil to prevent any back EMF from reaching the BCU when the relay is released in case the BCU was built to only power globes on that circuit.

Hi/Low on the OEM Bi-xenons work via a shutter. You need to take the relay signal off the halogen infill lights. Extra load of a relay will not make a difference to the system.

Thanks for the reply Sniegy and others.
I tested the wire that I have connected to and it must be the wrong one.

With ignition on it has 12v power, whether the high beam is on or off.
No power through it when the ignition is off.
Attached shows the wire I have thought was correct.
Does anyone have a picture of where the right one is?
    thanks,

Find the correct colour wire at the large connector that plugs into the headlight cluster itself, not a connector just somewhere in a wiring harness. On the RHS you will need to remove the headlight cluster to get to the connector, whereas the LHS connector can be unplugged from the headlight cluster insitu. Note the different colour scheme if using the LHS light cluster.

    All done!
    Thanks Graeme.
I could not get to the RHS wire due to the tight space, but the LHS blue/grey wire is easily accessible, without removing anything.
see photo of white wire connected to blue/grey highbeam wire
A 5 minute job once I found the wire.
Once connected to it, it all works like it should.
    Thanks heaps.

P.S I fitted a pair of 45W HIDs, ($400 on ebay), awesome white light and so much clearer than the High Beams.
