    "Technical Services Bulletin"
    Issued by LR on topix.
Usually starts "chould a customer complain"

    Early model D4s.
Get dealer to check the bracket

    Oh!

    When did that come out?

I'll have to pay attention now, cause I can't remember the last time my car did that....maybe it got sorted at the last service!

I had a few transmission issues at one point which were finally fixed by the 'correct' download being installed....

So maybe that (the clunk) was sorted then too.

    I'll let you know.

    Cheers,

    Kev.

Seems it may have been fixed by a reload of the software?? Will be able to make an informed response in a week or so I am guessing.

    Fingers crossed

Hmm - I think I get the same 'clunk'. D4 with about 16,000Km's. Really only notice it after slowing down to take 1st exit off a mini roundabout very near home. After turning the corner and putting foot back on the power, wheels are still straightening out from the turn, I hear and feel a clunk somewhere in the driveline.

I tried explaining my clunk on the D4 at first service & they basically told me it was in my head.. Still nothing like the driveline backlash I used to get on my Defender.

Yep, I get the clunk and have done for a long time. Usually when pulling up to a roundabout and taking off before I have come to a complete stop. I have the MY11 D4 2.7

I got my dealer to check it out and they can hear it but wanted to put the chassis ears on ( microphone) to pinpoint the main location but they were broken so it will be done next service.

Personally I think it is just drive-train backlash. If you put you car into off-road height and hop underneath below the centre transfer case you can move the front and rear prop shafts independently of each other quite a bit a bit (well more than I would expect being a mechanical engineer)

The noise hasn't got any worse and has been there since about km 5,000 and the car now has 35,000 on it.

Mine has it to,MY12,done 1.8k,so obviously hasn't been sorted, seems to do it under acceleration after slowing down, say at a roundabout for example, and then taking off,it will do it ocasionally, even if you accelerate slowly.

I recon it is the auto, will get it checked at the first service.......pr0bably just get the run around though
