My Dynamic 17's have circular holes. This was a change which I thought might be due to copyright infringement but may have been due to strength. They look stronger. My wheels are of legal offset. Perhaps that has also been changed.
I have had no problems.
I've just had a brand new dynamic rim replaced under warranty as it leaked air from a dodgy weld.
My tyre fitter said its not the first time he's seen that.
I don't think I'll buy dynamics again as I don't really trust the ones on the vehicle now.
I too have just sent in photos to Dynamic of rim cracked at weld for a claim which I am waiting for reply. Weld has undercut and for some reason quality control let them through. Pulled up at Three Ways with (new) tyre going down thinking I had picked up a dreaded tec screw at servo.
Thanks Terry
I've pretty much decided to use the 18" OEM alloys I have and save some money. I'll just order the tyres from the US.
I've sent an email to Dynamic and they have responded indicating that the rim may have been stressed by overloading. As they are rated 1450kg it is unlikely that is the case however I can't vouch for the previous owner's usage.
Pretty hard to overload a rim on a D3 that is rated at 1450kg, that means a weight in excess of 2900kg on the rear axle. Or a very very heavy winch and bar on the front ...;)
The standard 18's your D3 came with look far better then Dynamic rims anyway and it will handle better with 18's rather then 17's even if the tyres cost a few bucks more.
Have you priced recently Yokohama's from the tire shed or what ever it is called, last time I looked some months ago they were very cheap compared to here and they are according to most people a pretty good tyre.
cheers,
Terry
This is the replay I got back from Tirerack:
Mike,
5 BF Goodrich AT TA KO will run you $1834.83. 5 BF Goodrich Rugged Terrains will run you $1429.83.
Let me know when you're ready to place the order.
Thanks.
That was for 265/65R18 size delivered to my home. The price here in Perth was $580 each so my maths was a bit off and should have read just under $3k. I'd have to get them to split the load so I came in under the $1000 threshold for GST.
