Can i ask a stupid question...

If I fit the ARB winch bar to my D4 it won't sag at the front will it? I assume it will self level & be the same height as factory? and if I add the winch later?

    Cheers
    Rob.

It will self-level in both instances, front ride will be a little stiffer and it may take a little longer to reach off-road height when selected.

    Hi Robocop,
I'm afraid that "sagging at the front" and "taking longer to reach off-road height" happens to us all at some point in life ...

    Hi all,

Actually taking this question a bit further and following on from my earlier post re fitting an ARB winch bar (thanks for the replies by the way).....what sort of net weight gain are we looking at here, taking into account the old front etc.

ARB bar, warn / magnum winch with plasma rope?

    many thanks,

I'd say if your having those issues Oldsalt then maybe your old compressor is a bit lose and might need resleeving so its a tight fit once again ...then maybe that will help you get your front up faster! ...

    cheers,
    Terry

A very rough guess (remembering when I removed it from my D3) it would've been around 70 ~ 80kg with steel rope. Then minus the 15kg odd that's stripped away when you fit it.

    Cheers,

It seemed I read that some folks have opted for the hidden mount, due to some negative handling effects due to the extra weight. Just some food for thought and further conversation.

I fitted the D44 Devon discrete winch mount. That had very little effect on handling, but you can tell it is there, the full on bumper has to be felt more, although the protection offered from collisions may offset the negative effects of added weight.

I have had my OL bar (ARB equivalent) for over 12 months now. Didn't notice any difference in handling when it first went on and still don't.
Time will tell on whether it has a long term effect on the compressor.

    Cheers, Craig
