Why don't Safari make a snorkel for the 4L V6 Petrol?

Does anyone know the reason why Safari don't make a snorkel for the 4L V6 Petrol?

I'm aware its possible to put the 2.7L snorkel on the 4L and that Bruce Davis have done it before but I'd just like to see if anyone know the real reason.

Maybe its commercial reasons? Maybe nobody has offered up their 4L D3 for Safari to do some R&D on?

Just for clarity, please make it clear if your speculating or guessing the reason or if you actually know.

Good question! I would love to put a snorkel on my V6 D3, too. I've emailed Bruce Davis for a quote but never heard back....

I called them and they said they would do it but they wouldn't be able to quote on the fitting cost because they didn't know how long it might take them. The snorkel itself was $500 - 600.

Obvious answer...ask them. It probably comes down to volume. If there are not enough potential users out there, they would not be able to recover their R&D investment, tooling etc.

Manly because they did not sell the V6 in Europe or many other places

So not many sold so not worth them making one

I did contact them but my query was passed on to ARB who very helpfully told me "No they don't make one".

The body is the same isn't it? And the air intake still on the drivers side? Pardon me for asking an obvious question but can't the ducting just be customed in someone's driveway with a couple of beers & the handbrake yelling at you for spending too long on the car?

When the twin-cam Suzuki Jimny came out I bought one, there were zero aftermarket accessories available except an ARB non winch bar. Although that car went further, harder, higher, deeper than any 4wd I've owned ARB of course scoffed when I asked about a snorkel. So I made one, it was water tight & it worked. I made everything for that car even down to the custom transfer mounts I needed to install a Sierra transfer case (rock crawler gears weren't available at the time).. And yes I needed custom shafts as well.

I guess my point being is not everything is available to fit straight from the box.. Buy it, mod it & install it. All of my fun times with modding 4wds has been the custom install.

Exactly why I am asking the question. If the reason Safari don't make a snorkel for the Petrol V6 is supply and demand then I'm going to install a TDv6 snorkel.

If however the reason was a technical one then I'd be reluctant to install one. My only concern is air volume but as Safari make snorkels for other makes 4L and bigger petrol engines I think it should be ok.

As far as I can tell the parts between the guard and the airbox are the same for the 2.7 D, the 4.0L V6 and the 4.4L V8 so in theory no hacking or modding should be needed.
