Gday Garry,
Lets hope so , as it will be one of the first things I do on mine after seeing what EGR done to the intake manifold of my D2...
Will await an outcome..
Thanks and Cheers Ean
The general consensus is that post 07MY TDV6 engines cannot have EGR blanking plates put on the engine and still have the check engine light off. Not sure whether this is an urban myth or whether is actually based on experience.
This thread on the UK RRS site would seem to indicate it can actually be done - though this guy did install new EGRs and then blanked them - maybe this is the key. But it is still early days.

This is very interesting, maybe there is hope for us "post 07s" after all - thanks Garry.
I hope so too. The difference might be that his egrs were working when he blanked them.
As an aside, I have heard (not confirmed in any way) that the 200 series twin turbo V8 diesel has the same issue and its EGRs cannot be blanked. However I have heard that if a small hole is drilled through the blanks and the EGRs are working correctly, just enough gas gets through to fool the sensors but not enough to feed bad exhaust into the engine. Maybe someone need to try this?

A friend at work with a new Triton is also looking at doing something similar - via an oil catch can, rather than exhaust being recirculated. Ie. crankcase breather to catch can, then "filtered" air into EGR system. That is also meant to keep the EGRs cleaner.

BAS is working on a solution via a remap. ie telling the ECU to keep the valves open.

Use of the existing instrument cluster petrol engine emission warning light was to provide an indication to the driver that there was an EGR fault, so as long as the valves' stepper motors continue to operate as directed by the ecu, there shouldn't be any problems. However blanking the valve outlets wont prevent exhaust gases from penetrating to the mechanism so the valves will eventually sieze again from corrosion, but blanking the inlets will prevent most forms of EGR failures.
When I find out how to remove the electrical connectors from my 3.0's EGR valves I'll be doing some testing to see if there's any improvement in fuel economy. I hope to get access to blank them properly once warranty has expired.

Oopsyes meant closed. If done via remap of ECU the light wont come on.
