Here is one FYI. I got the platform rack fitted before a trip across to WA from Melbourne. If this does not work - I have quickly jammed some pics on photo Bucket Robs Disco pictures by gotaflat - Photobucket
. I forget how to post pics, but when I get some time tonight I will try to sort out re-post.

So how long is yours ? Now I am talking about the rack!
Seems a little longer, but also sits higher off the roof than mine.
I have the flat platform, with the moveable rails on top.

I do know for a fact that the rhino rack will handle significantly more than 75kgs, but this is not advertised purely due to LR's specifications.
I don't think that I would want to push it with the legs being above the windows....they might pop out. LOL
Agree with you discotwinturbo, 75kgs is what the LR spec says - insurance may be the issue if overloaded in the worst case scenario. Tradesman call out 150kgs in Oz, not sure about windcheetah tho.

LR is quite definite about the 75Kg because of shifting the centre of gravity too much and risking a roll-over. The guys at LR said the roof will support more than 75kg, just no when driving.

I built some alloy racks similar to the wind cheeta and the total weigh of the rack is 22Kg so I can still put 53 kg up there which is enough for all the bulky stuff that takes up heaps of room in the cabin.

For heavy stuff like water jerry cans I made a towbar mounted rack that can hold 3 x 25L jerry's.

Picture of the rack prior to fabricating the mounting feet.

    This is my platform rack
Rhino Rack - Roof Racks for LAND ROVER Discovery 3 and 4 4WD (with factory tracks long) 04/05 On

    Length 1928mm
    Width 1376mm

It does sit higher than I hoped - I think its because I have the factory long rails ?? I am keen to see if there are legs that allow it so sit lower?
Do you know the part number for your legs - mine is "Part No: RLT502" which give it so much hight.

Part numbers for the four rear legs (the higher part of the roof) are RLTP and RLTF for the two front legs for the lower part. The Lower front part also needed spacers LHS2PAIR.

The rack is lower but possibly due to the rhino tracks.....they only come up maximum 1cm from the original black track covers that I removed. But the legs are quite low too, and attached directly to the platform.

I have the Rhino long rack, but fitted a narrower one. It's a PIA to do the bolts though as it sits low on the mounts. I have the little stumpy front track and longer mounts plus spacers on the front to get it all aligned.

It all works well and gives good flexibility when I just want cross bars. It is noisy though, hopefully this will go when I fabricate a wind deflector
