    Between Service Maintenance - D4 TDV6

    Hi All,

I have a 2011 TDV6 D4, whilst the recommended service interval is 12 months/26000km, I was wondering whether an interim oil and filter change was something done by most owners (ie at the 6month or a km mark). Every other car I have owned, Subaru's and Toyotas. have been 6months.

I would anticipate we would do around 15-20k a year a 60/40 mix of town/highway driving. Little towing at this point and hopefully more off road stuff as time goes on. This is my first LR and I look forward to using it as it was intended when I can.

I would assume tyre rotation/balance/alligment every 10k would be okay - do you advise rotating just the 4 or all 5 wheels? Currently just the OEM tyres - will likely move to A/T when I replace them.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

    Pat

In my opinion, this is an absolute must.

    Pat,

Check with your dealer. Mine says that LRA recommends 6 month service intervals due to our climate (or their wallets).

Actually LRA recommend a "health check service" at 12,500ks, to us this means a real service, to LRA it's a check, nothing replaced unless needed, so no oil or filter change.

So for us we are using this as a real service and have incorperated this into a regular service interval, we had aa service which had an oil and filter change at 12,500kks.

I say yes, it can only benifit the car.

    Hello,

I am servicing my D4 at approx 10,000km intervals which takes me about 8 months. A service being new engine oil filter and oil and the usual checks. Some extras I have done are front and rear diff oils these are relatively cheap so I will probably do this every 20,000kms. I have also just done the transfer case oils (very exy) and fuel filter (reasonable) at the 30,000km service. I have done a few big off road trips and like to use the car as it was designed so figure it can't hurt to keep the servicing up to the car and it gives me more piece of mind on remote trips. You will read plenty about the gearbox oil chnages as well I am planning to do this at 80,000kms and see it as worthwhile if you intend to keep the car for a while or atleast until the D5 arrives and then I will have an itch to scratch.

If you are thinking of chnagin to AT tyres I would say rotate in the spare as you will most likely want to replace the spare as well espcially if going to an AT necessitates a slight change in tyre size. I am looking at getting 40k kms out of my 5 stock tyres. I actually haven't bothered to much with the alignment and just do a abalnce and rotate at 10k kms and then an alignment at the 20k services.

We are doing the same as PaulOz, as we tow a lot and do remote travel, we have two spares and we will be incorperating both in the rotation.

If you tow, a gearbox flush and re-fill at 80,000ks is a must.

    LR RECOMMENDED SERVICE

    Hi,

According to my Service Booklet the D4, TDV6 2.7 A/B services are at 24000km and if you use the vehicle for what it is designed for that "at least" an OIL SERVICE at 12000Km is also recommended.

Quote "more frequent attention maybe necessary if the vehicle is subject to stop/start operation, extremes of temperature, dusty conditions, off road driving or frequent towing" end quote. This is from the (D4 Non 3.0 TDV6) LR Maintenance Check Sheet supplied by my dealer

From this all I can conclude is that the vehicle should have an oil/filter change at least every 12000kms according to LR.

This is in line with many comments below.

    The D4, 3.0 has a 26000km recommended schedule

I follow the book and have the O, A and B Services.
