After a trouble free round trip of 1750km along the great ocean road & back, the tow hitch plug (my 2nd) fell out in my garage overnight. Anyway I was amused.

Mine fell out on the drive home from the dealer when I picked up the car brand new. Totally useless.

Mine was fine until I used the tow hitch, I then lost the plug the next time I drove the car.

Useless and I imagine dangerous bouncing off the road at 100kph.....

LR should change the design or just not fit them.

Wait until you have to try and fit the tow hitch after 2 days in the mud - not nice!

I put a little insulation tape around the top of the plug if the fit isn't snug. Then you need pliers to get it out.

    Cheers,

    Gordon

I have noticed that the plug will sit in position even if the little catch at the front does not engage. I expect it would fall out with the first bump. Has anyone lost the plug when they were sure that the catch was engaged and the plug fitted "home" properly?

I always make sure the catch has engaged but it can be a bit fiddly some times. 12mths and 40K kms and still have the original.

    Good point Gordon,

Never encountered that issue though as I leave the hitch attached.

Only if you go off road. Then you're ploughing. Seen it done a few times...not good.

What it's worth and what it costs are two entirely different things !!!!! - welcome to the wonderful world of LR pricing for little bits of plastic...
