    Who has done EGR blank.

    Gday All,

Was wondering who has done the EGR blank themselves, been reading the instructions and seems straight forward until I read the part about the butterfly valve spindle, Am confused at to what the spindle is, it seems as tho its the flap that opens/shuts, but if I read further its not so clear.
I would have thought the spindle connects to the flap, and you need to somehow get that undone to remove the flap.It say pry out gently with a screwdriver.

Anyone enlighten me on this please.

    Thanks in advance

    Cheers Ean

I have done it and yes the flap was the worst part. You have to pry the spindle out without damaging the housing, I tried for a while from different directions without success but persisted with different tools and then out it came.

The rest of the process is straight forward just be careful with the bolts and gaskets on the exhaust as they are easy to drop and then I doubt you will get them back easily.

    Thanks Geedublya,

the spindle is it easy to see the so called slot they speak of, and did you have to use much force or just steady steady.

    Any other hints.

I had to use more force than I was comfortable with. I think the secret is to pry all around the spindle initially to loosen it before going for the big one.

I also searched on the UK D3 forums and read up on other experiences there.
