						SupporterHi all,
Made an enquiry at dealer re side step prices and was given the option of either side steps or the tube rail, also listed as protection rail.
Does anyone have any pics of these different products.
I'm hoping they'll put an end to the carpark door attacks we keep getting.
cheers,
Cheers Baz.

Thanks Baz, but I think the OP is referring to the LR "protection" tubes - for carpark duties they're probably fine.
Not up to much else though ........
Cheers,

Hi Ozzy,
Here is a photo of my Rocksliders. Mine are the wider of the two options from the supplier.
They are great in the bush, but not alot of help at shopping centres.
You will find that the side steps are the opposite. Great in shopping centres, but useless in the bush, as they will bend out of shape and not offer protection to the body.
Cheers, Craig
There are photos of both on the LR website - Disco 4 then accessories
The LR tube bars, not worth a bean-- no protection, can't use as a step. Scrapped and put on Rover Specialties sliders. I would suggest using something like what Disco4SE has.
The other LR step might be ok if you never planned on going off road. I attached a couple of thumbnails for comparison purposes.

						Hi Ozzy,
Another option are the rock sliders / step combo produced by GNVP in the UK. Here's my D4 with them fitted. Top notch welding, very robust, and very easy to fit. Landed in Oz they were cheaper than the local offerings (when l got mine the locals ones were not around). Also I preferred the styling of these ones (cut angles rather than the rounded edges at the bends).
Judging by other photos l think these sit a little wider so provide a bit more side panel protection. Combined with the side protection mouldings l'm yet to pick up a panel dent. In busy shopping centres l park in off-road height so the first thing a car door would hopefully encounter is the rock sliders.

Mine are the same as Craig's (Disco4SE) but are closer in to vehicle.
Here's a pic. They are well worth the $ and plus they support a local manufacturer. Super strong heavy duty steel and powder coated.
Give Brad a call.
Cheers Neil.
