About to hire a camper trailer and wondering if a "standard" round 7 pin to flat 7 adapter will work ok? Have been told by the hire company that the adapter may need to be rewired. ( it's an unbraked trailer )
The standard 7pin flat to large 7pin round (from SuperCrap etc) will work, assuming the flat is attaching to trailer, round to car.
Cheers,
Gordon
Sounds easy, just the led trailers that need an adapter then. Cheers
As long as the trailer doesn't have electric brakes, both the adapters and LED shunt modules will work.
If the trailer has e/brakes and the vehicle doesn't have the controller then you need need to remove the wire from pin "5" of either the 7 pin large round or the 7 pin flat connector.
You can either buy the Lab products pulse busta SBA for $363 which converts the 7 pin round to 7 flat PulseBusta Busta-S-B-A
or the pawky66 module on ebay for $199 and an adapter from the auto parts store. LED trailer module Land Rover Discovery 4 Range Rover Sport Landrover D4 LR4 | eBay

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.
For a D4, no shunt or LED "buster" box is required. Simply wire a 12V 21W globe in parallel with one of the indicator circuits (either in the trailer loom, the adaptor or on the trailer itself) . That will provide enough load for the car to recognise the attached trailer.
Cheers,
Gordon

If you do nothing then you will have to just ignore the reversing sensors.
