    Rhino Bars

Sorry if this has been done to death already, but I'm a little confused about Rhino racks.

I bought a couple of 'aero' bars at a garage sale, but they didn't come with any instructions etc etc.

Now, I've been to TJM and ARB who have quoted for 'tracks' to be mounted to the roof so that the bars can be fitted.

Trouble is, ARB price was $600 and TJM was $175. Now, I know ARB are a little pricey (and to be fair, always show a lack of interest when I tell them I have a Landrover) but this is quite a difference in quotes.

Could someone be kind enough to explain exactly what it is I need to be able to fit the 2 bars to my Disco 3.

(I note that one side of the roof channel strips has what looks like removable plugs, and the other does not).

Search the rhino site & will all become clear

I recently fitted the rhino roof rails, easy, just follow the instructions,ah there is the pop in the roof,if needed.
Then get the legs ,& if the bars you have are the correct lenght, you should be OK.

The best place i have found to get the rhino stuff is Autobarn.
My bars are only on the rear higher section of the roof, which are adequate for what i need. You can also get a rhino set up for the lower section if needed.

Now there is also the LR rails, but looking at the price of them, they are gold plated

Dunno why the D3 has plugs on one side only,as the D4 had them on both sides. The plugs pull out, cover comes up & it is then cut to lenght to suit the rhino rails.

    Thanks scarry, much appreciated.

Mind if I ask how much it was for the rails, please.

Difference in quotes 'tween ARB and TJM has me wondering what they were quoting for!

The Rhino site lists prices .

I believe that TJM quoted you for the tracks but ARB quoted for tracks, feet and cross bars of some description.

Be aware that Rhino tracks are much lower profile that the OEM Landrover ones so may very well limit you to Rhino products.

Just wondering if anyone has the aero bars and a pioneer rack?

I can't seem to find anyone who knows whether the pioneer platform rack fits on the aero bars.

Local 4wd shop has little idea when it comes to anything other than a 'yota.

Jeez, how hard can it be?

Just fitted rear Rhino Tracks today, paid $ 350 for the tracks and 4 legs or stands, have plenty of rails left from the last vehicle - legs too but they need a gutter and my D3 ain't got them !

Mine had plugs visible on both sides but I Beleive some don't have them visible. Took me longer to get the $**#%## plugs out ! Than fit the bars and clean up. I did put the rivet in.

I have the pioneer rack fitted to my D4 when I was back in Melbourne.

It does not need cross bars (aero or the larger HD ones) as they have cross bars built in to the platform rack. However It does use the same legs that attach to aero and HD bars (leg type depends on what rails you have or get.) when I got mine installed the boys recon they can fit the platform to larger square cross rails with factory rhino Adapter plates. However I remember that they said they had to do some drilling and bolting to fit to aero bars....but no biggie and would do if I wanted (I didn't go his way, but still thinking about it). Suggest this is taken on by willing sales/installers (the ones that care and know what they are doing).
