    Boat Loaders

    Hi all,
Does anyone have a boat loader on their D4 ?
It would seem a very light 3.5 tinny and a loader would be too much for the roof limit. Does anyone have any experience with this dillema ?
I would think the roof could handle more ?

I saw a D3 with a tinny on top and a Kedron on the back, in Albany on Australia day long weekend.

Load limit is 75kgs with most racks.

Some UK racks are rated at 200kgs, and the G4 vehicles seem to have a lot more than 75kgs up top.

I have exceeded this offroad on my rhino platform.......I do know for a fact that they stipulate 75kgs to match LR's recommendation but will take much more.

Bit of worry if the roof could not take more....would not be very strong otherwise in a rollover.

You just need to know the risks for insurance etc.

    Brett.....

    Thanks Brett,
The boat and racks and loader would come in just under 100 kgs !
I have seen bigger boats and equipement up on the roof of 4x4s .
Surely the D4 is no weeker than these ?

You will find just about all makers loading recommendations. Most makers roof loadings are only between 75 and 100kgs.

It is not about the strength of the roof supports, it is about the safe handling of the vehicle with the centre of gravity displaced upwards when weight is put up high. The roof is strong enough to support the car in a roll over which coincidentally becomes more likely if you carry a lot of excess weight on the roof.
