Thread: Timely reminder.

I popped down to the Avon River Reserve (Gippsland lakes area) a few days ago to check out the camping area for a future trip and this is what I came upon - a couple of locals who were fishing nearby said it happened over Easter apparently - they didn't know what started the fire but I thought it was a timely reminder for us all to be very careful of gas/fuel/etc when camping ... not the way you'd want your camping trip to end !!!!!

We had a close call with our gas hotwater heater, while Kerry was having a shower the water went cold suddenly, she called out and when I went to see, the heater unit was on fire on the inside, this was all caused buy not enough gas tape on a connection, luckely it was caught in time.

We have now re-done all the connections and as a security measure we will have someone at the heater at all times to make sure all is good while showering.

I guess we didn't test it for long enough before using it, lesson learnt.
