D4 long wait time for ARB winch bar

I am in western Qld at the moment and the order of the day for bull bars out here is anything from a four to a six poster on everything from Commodores to 200 Series Tojos. They all have checker plate side steps, except on the sedans, and two (double) brush bars connecting the steps to the bull bars. The fronts are covered with a heavy mesh with driving lights set behind the mesh. Yesterday I saw a D3 with this set up and spoke to the lady who was driving it, she was from a station in the area and said that "you really need them out here and that they have them on all of their vehicles". The most common brand is, wait for it 'Hopper Knockers' and 'Tuff'. These are real Bull Bars.

Personally, I would never jack a vehicle from the bullbar... Just not a good place to do it for stability.

Point taken- Lift point are on the ARB bars and I agree it could be very dangerous which prompted my post.

The recovery points on the winch bar might be helpful when we are 3/4 drowned in mud and needing a snatch block back to the car Tombie. Under the car is fine in nice condidtions. Most times I am winching I would have to go diving or digging to get under the car. I understand some people pay for mud baths but would still like a rated point on the bar to avoid them myself.:D

Once the bar is fitted, removing and replacing is only 20 minutes go to whoa.

Or if you're facing a replacement due to a sticky shutter, which I may be on my D3 (but seems to have fixed itself for now). Mine will take more than 20 mins though as I'll have to cut off the cover plate underneath.

How did you support the weight of the bar doing it by yourself? I was thinking of using an engine hoist.

Ultimately I probably wont be put off, but I must admit I've been disappointed with the bar on the D3.

No bars out there have a rated "snatch" recovery point fitted...

I'm a big bloke :D Just held it on my knee whilst reaching under and putting the first 2 bolts in by hand.

One could use a trolley jack to support it if needed.

Well after months of waiting the ARB deluxe winch bar is getting installed today, will post up some pics later
