Just a quick question.
I have MY12 D4, 2 months old with standard central B&W display(with the Land Rover logo). It can be dimmed with the dashboard dimmer but can it be turned off completely as I find it unnecessary and distracting at night? On my previous Audi A4 it could be turned off completely if required.

Not as far as I know. However, certain things can be reduced...
1 - If you go into the menus, you can turn off some of the notifications you get.
2 - The 'Trip' information can be turned off by pressing the 'i' button on the end of the indicator stalk.
Also, the more you drive by night, the more you'll get used to it.
It is possible to turn off the colour display in the MY12 HSE - there is an on-screen button to power off. Surprised the function is not available in the B&W version.
I'm not sure from your post whether you mean the display in the instrument console in front of the driver or the center one between the driver and passenger?
I have not found a way to turn off the one in the instrument panel.
For the one in the middle (with the audio and so on) you can set preferences so that it displays the LR logo when off or a black screen. I found the logo distracting at night so by changing preferences from the setup menu I set the screen off display to "black" and that way when I turn it off from the power button on the bottom left it goes completely black.
Hi,
Thank you,
Yes I do mean the one in the centre between passenger and driver with the LR logo.
Where do I set 'Preferences' as I only have the basic (non GPS, standard audio) screen.
Are they on the radio/phone controls?
Paul
I have the full version with the GPS so it may be different, but mine is under the "settings" menu which is only accessible through the physical button on the lower right of the console buttons, near the right hand rotary dial. See the attached photo.
Thanks Dafrete
I think my plain basic screen set up is a little under endowed in the functions department.
Thanks for your help anyway. I didn't order the car with GPS as I wished to use the Hema GPS.
I wonder if there's a way to switch off the display with one of the electronic gizmos that can read and change vehicle settings.
It does seem a little strange it is not on-tap from the outset though.
Perhaps I'll just make a small opaque cover I can place over it using the 'KISS' principle.
Thanks
Paul
