How about just adding the paragraph:
"Search terms must be a minimum of 4 characters in length. Wildcards (e.g. * ) will be disregarded. Therefore, to search for terms such as "ABS", google search must be used instead (see below). "
Also - I have noticed some sites give you the option of using the built in search or google when you click on the search button. Can that be implemented easily?
