Thread: Dashboard Christmas Lights

G'day all,

This morning while driving to work my radio turned itself off for no apparent reason. It happened the night before but came on again after a couple of minutes. About 5 minutes later I started getting many, many alarms, HDC, Transmission, EPB etc, in fact all of them. About 30 seconds later the car just shut down. Just before it shut down I noticed that the radio LCD screen was showing "Voltage Low" which surprised me because I replaced the battery about 2 weeks ago after intermittent Battery warning lights and then a failure to start.

Anyway, I waited 10 minutes and tried to restart without success. Last I saw of it was on the back of a tow truck on the way to the dealer as I had to get to work. I should note that it was quite wet this morning.

So, a search of the forums reveals a few possible causes, I'm hoping it was the Brake Switch because it sounds the cheapest.

IT, is an '05 D3 TDV6. I will let you know what the dealer reckons when I hear from them, but has anyone had something similar happen???

Well, apparently its the alternator but that would be the first thing I would check too.

Oh well, its covered by Allianz's extended warranty so no cost to me. Geez I'm glad I bought that, it has paid for itself 3 times over now...

I betcha in about 6 weeks the stupid brake controller will go now too...!
