    Replaement battery for D3

    Gday...

I have a 2006 D3 TDV6 SE Auto which I believe still has the original battery. Given comments on this forum, the 'pooters in the D3 need a 'good voltage' before it will kick into life, I have been increasingly concerned about how much longer my battery will last although it shows no indication of being a problem.

I have had it checked and load tested at each service (I have normal 12,000km services and 6,000km engine oil/filter changes) and whilst it is about "half down" none have suggested I should replace it. By 'half down' I think they have said it is showing 400-450 under the load test.

The battery in the vehicle has the following info on the label -
Land Rover Varta Made in Germany
    12V 90Ah
    RC150 MINS
    956 AMPS (SAE)
    6CP1-10655-GA YGD 500130
I have recently bought some jumper leads so if stuck I can jump start from the aux battery on the other side of the engine bay.

So, a bit longwinded sorry, but the question is - what replacement battery is recommended for the D3 and how readily available is it? I travel full-time dragging my van all over the place and spend most of my time away from cities.

    Cheers - John

Hi, my STD battery slowly gave up the ghost whilst on the road.... my tell tale signs were that when the battery was cold I'd get the odd fault message but not when battery was warm.

Finally gave up the ghost in Canberra so popped into Battery World for a chat..... the up shot was that the D3 battery choice was very limited to 1, however the larger RR battery also squeezes in nicely.

battery World do club discounts so ask if you are.... ended up the RR battery cost the same as the smaller D3 one.

    Hope this helps.....

I have the same battery as you have, mine has a date stamp on it of November 2006, it is down a little but still fine.

I have never had a battery this old battery before so am a bit on edge, I will replace it before I go bush again.

There are 2 available in Cairns from different stores both identical size and lay out as original prices $ 220 and 205, which I was pleasantly surprised at for the size of it.
