I am assuming that it looks the same as my D4 built in sept 2011.

    Brett....
Is it just the 3.0s that have that display? The 2.7s just have an old fashioned dipstick... But I've never looked for the VIN!

Niobe, there really shouldnt be too many worries, maybe check the suspension raises in good time, the power steering doesn't feel gritty, no harshness in the driveline at speed... I can't think of any other bugs they can have at 12 mo...

Good luck and let us know how you go!

The photo shows an e-diff. If looking over the rear wheels as Greame says, you would see the silver housing looking from the left rear wheel, the cylindrical starter motor looking thing(you can see it at the top attached to the silver part) would be seen looking over the right rear wheel. Make sure the car is set to off road height. You may also need to articulate the wheels to get more clearance for better visibility.

Make sure it still has the mis fueling reset tool. It's a yellow pronged thing that should live in the glovebox, oh and you'll want the ipod cable too possibly?

Hmm, no record of this VIN on Topix, but it matches the rego. Will have to check that in person.

Thanks to all the helpful responses.

    Well, this is a problem.

The VIN has an 'AA' before the serial indicating MY10, but this is a MY11 car.
If I do a search for the VIN with 'BA', I get a perfect match for the colours and options.

So this is implying the car should be stamped with BA, and that the VIN on the rego is wrong.

The last 5 new cars I have bought all had the VIN displayed on a plate at the base of the windscreen on the passengers side.....

    As does the D4.

With a complete lack of self control I cannot help decending to depths of other and say something like.

"Unless you are pretty car savy, and you know how to lift up a windscreen wiper you wont be able to locate it....."

I suggest that you don't hand over any money until this is sorted-out.
