    Tyre pressure monitoring system

In carsales.com.au, there is an option to spec up a new build with all retail prices and orc for each state. In the options list, for TPMS it says: "Tyre pressure monitoring - with logging and display".

My question is, where is this logging and display they speak of? I specced the system on my 2012 HSE expecting a full display showing each wheel and pressure and prehaps even temperature but what I got is merely an option to set heavy load or normal load with no display or logging that I can see. Is this available in some menu somewhere or is this system a $1300 complete waste of money? I fear its the latter.

Did you go to the dealer & enquire or did you just rely on the "car sales" website?

The monitor on the TFT screen in the vehicle can only set heavy or light loads. The system will let you know there is an issue when it happens, easy way to familiarise yourself is drop one of the tyre pressures to say 28psi & go for a lap around the block & you will see how it operates.

    Cheers

    Thats a bit lame.

My last car, a Jeep Grand Cherokee (2005 -2011) came standard with TPMS.

On the base models all you got was a warning lamp on the dash when a tyre was low....still very handy.

On the Limited you got a graphical display of the car with the pressure of each tyre shown.

Abit rough that we have to pay an aditional grand for nothing more than a warning, that really should be standard on all cars, as it is in the US.

I didn't rely on the cars sales website. That was an after the fact observation. I had presumed when ordering that some kind of decent graphical display would be included but alas I presumed wrong.

Needless to say, my recommendation to other buyers is to avoid it because it's a total rip off. You can buy other systems aftermarket that do a much better job for a lot less money and the integration argument is basically invalid. Would be a good modification or software update for landrover in the future which may justify its expense.

    Tyre pressure Monitoring

I actually paid for this in my spec'd up RRSport. The Light/Heavy load is just a set up choice. The information then must be stored in the car computer. There is no actual tyre pressure readout as such. If a tyre suddenly deflates, or if the tyre pressure reduces below a certain amount (it must compare all the tyre pressures) it will advise you so, and tell you which tyre has lost pressure. I guess I've paid for a advisory security system.

The tyre -high load or low load- is in the setup screen, that you select with the ignition settings.

But, I must say at least it's better than the sat nav system, but not as good as the cold climate pack.
