re: workshop on "Emergency Bush Repair" & "Practical Tips & Tricks"

    Hi Gordon and Aulro members

I am booked into the Melbourne seminar and looking forward to it.

In addition to your current seminar, would it be feasible or would there be enough interest to run a workshop/seminar on "Emergency Bush Repair" & "Practical Tips & Tricks" for the D3/4/RRS

    For example:

How does one actually take the cover off the compressor plate to clean the mud etc off

Things that can go wrong with the air suspnsion and how to deal with it?

How do we fit a emergency kit to the EAS? eg the GOE kit
How do we "jury rig" a compressor to the EAS if the OEM compressor fails or is damaged

How to quickly change over to a HS 2 way rod

What other things specific to these cars can go wrong in the bush and what can we do?

I for one would find it very useful and have confidence to do it myself, especially when I am in the bush, having been shown once on how to do it.

I do not know how much material or time would be required for workshop like that.

Could something like that be included in the current seminar by extending the seminar duration/time.

We could use our own cars for practical instructions.

    Any thoughts anyone?

    regards

    Then 2010 D4 TDV6 'Jumbo' w traxide DBS
    First love 2002 D2 TD5 'Disco Stu'

Some of these are covered in the GOE off-road booklet, I'll be adding more for the 3rd edition early next year (which also covers the new 2013 Range Rover). I do cover most of it at the driver training day, along with diagnostic equipment (which is covered in the seminar as well). Unfortunately we currently only run training days in Perth, although that may change mid-2013.

Adding more to the seminar content is a balancing act, as I find 3+ hours is about as much as people are willing (or able) to sit and listen!

    Cheers,

    Gordon

Thanks Gordon, think we're on the same page - only so much one can absorb in a theory session, but we'd happily spend a day tooling about with our cars and a barbie lunch!

re: Training Days & technical workshop

    Dear All

Indeed a training day together with a technical workshop on those issues would be great!

Hope you can do them interstate as well

In addition to AULRO members, I suspect there may be quite a few people in the LR Owners and Range Rover Clubs of Victoria interested in something like this

Recently our club held a technical workshop weekend and this was well attended, but mainly geared towards more general repairs and older LR and non LR cars

    regards

    Melbourne Seminar

    Ditto Tony,
It certainly opened my eyes to the vehicles capability. Also great tips on driving on sand.
