G'day all,
Is there a D3/4 owner in the Melbourne-Geelong area thinking about buying a rear wheel carrier ?? We might be able to help each other out.
The reason I ask is, I've made a prototype wheel carrier for a customer's D3 some time ago and it turned out well. Being a prototype, it was fully hand made. I'm currently building a couple more, but these one's will have laser cut components and I've made a few changes / improvements over the original one.
The only thing I need to do after I construct them is fit one to a D3/4 to make sure everything is spot on before I can think about making more.
The problem is, I don't have an old D3 laying around the workshopso I'm hoping there's a member who might be able to help me out. In return you would get a brand new wheel carrier at a discounted price.
I'm located at Moriac, 22kms SW of Geelong, an easy run down he freeway and Geelong Ring Road bypass.
A little more info..............
The carrier is designed to fit with the original bumper. You can see pictures of the prototype on my website at the following link, but the new carrier will have a much better mounting system than the one in the pics and some other minor differences.

It's fitted by removing the rear plastic bumper and bolting the chassis bracket to the chassis. Some holes have to be drilled through the chassis, also through the plastic for the stub axle and latch plate. A small section at the end of the chassis has to be cut off.......I know this sounds harsh, but it seems to be a common practice with D3/4 wheel carriers as there's just no space under the bumper for the stub axle.
If you're interested, send me a PM with any questions. Send me a phone number if you prefer to chat on the phone.
Cheers, Murray
