Rear fog lamps turning on by themselves

Has anyone experienced their rear fog lamps turning on by themselves? We're out touring at the moment and on 2 different days the rear fog lamps have turned on by themselves in heavy rain. I get the yellow rear fog light lamp on the dash and I can see a reflectuon of them on the camper. I have the lights on "auto". Is this a feature or a fault?

Fog lamps - front or rear - are not supposed to work when headlights are switched to auto.

I get the same thing in heavy rain, and my lights are on auto.....I just thought it was a safety thing.

I couldnt see it documented anywhere but I think it happens when wipers go to high speed and lights turn on. I have a couple of other electrical gremlins at the moment so just trying to make sure this isnt a part of a wider fault.

I doubt it - it is against the law to use 'fog' lights in anything but fog conditions so it is unlikely they come on for a bit of rain and fast wipers.

In fact I just went out and tried it (it is raining here) wipers on fast, car running in drive, headlights on and then on auto and no fog lamps came on.

My handbook only indicates fogs can be manually operated when lights on and not in auto. Says nothing about lights and wipers.

Me too.....trip computer continues to reset itself (trip a and b), sat NAV option on touch screen and I have no sat NAV (it just appeared there and LR don't know how to remove it). I can turn my passenger airbag off with the key, and that's not an option (or legal) in Australian vehicles....and it works (uncles has a blank in place of the key hole).

I also have the ability to change the wiper sensitivity for the auto wipers, which others have not been able to recreate.

When I reverse, I have to manually switch the touch screen back to the usual screen....or it just stays on the revering screen blank.

And the fog lights come on in heavy rain when auto wipers and lights are on....it's all LR personality ;-)

But so far nothing really important has gone wrong....so I am happy.

Took me a little while to remember to check. My fog lights at the front and the rear can be turned on when the lights are set to Auto and it is dark enough for the headlights to be on. They can be turned on when the head lights are turned on manually, but only the front fog lights can be turned on if the dial is turned to side lights (parking lights). The rear do not light under this condition.

I can adjust the sensitivity of the auto wipers.

I don't have the electrical anomalies listed.

FYI: I have a MY 12 HSE with auto high beam option.

Since the fog lights coming on I had to replace a left rear indicator bulb so possibly this is part of the reason for it coming on. Time will tell. Still getting a HDC fault that now clears quickly so still something going on.
