    D3 service items

    hello Together,

Just wondering is there a list of what parts/items need to be serviced at the different service intervals?

The LR service book does only have the same generic service items like Oil Filter etc for every service but not in details what each particular service should cover.

    Thanks a lot

    Steve

Steve 223 - what confuses me looking at that is it has an oil change only interval. This is not applied by the Oz dealers as they have an A & B only schedule.

My gut feel is that it all that is really needed every 2nd service is a simple oil & filter change with an A and B service each alternate 12 months.

Somehow the dealers in Australia have reworded it so that they can milk $700++ each 6 months rather than whatever an oil service would cost i.e. $150.

Except for serious 4wding I would question if the city driving in Oz is harsher than, say London - the opposite would be true is my guess.

    Happy to be corrected.

For a Discovery 3 this service schedule is correct.

Oil & Filter to be replaced every 6 months as per the service schedule.

& no it's not the dealers "rewording" the schedule to get more money....?FFS?

    Service Schedule

    Is there a similar link/schedule available for a D4/2.7 MY10?

I'm presuming the Service Details for the D4 is similar to the D3.

    Hi Agro,

The only real difference between the 2 is that there is no "O" service. (O = Oil Service)
The vehicles oil change is now every 12months not every 6months. Every odd service is best to describe it (1st, 3rd, 5th-you get the drift) is just a health check. Health check is basically just an inspection to make sure all is well, check brakes, check air filter, tyres etc etc.
The other addition is a pollen filter change every 12 months also.
I couldn't find a service schedule on AULRO to suit as there are 2 different schedules, one for a 2.7 & one for a 3.0 so hopefully the above helps.
    Cheers

Sniegy - let me say that the dealers on this side of the island don't know anything about an oil change only service every 6 months. Seems to be $700 for the 'cheap' service.

IMHO this is what puts LR well out of step with its Toyota counterparts. Prado and Cruiser owners are shocked if a service costs more than $250.

I love my Disco 3 but guess this is why on a recent 1500km trip up north and back I saw maybe 5 LRs (Disco, RR, RRS) and 100s of Prados, Pajs etc.

Of course, once you find a good indy you can tailor your services and often find the right advice from them i.e. changing gearbox and diff fluids.

Mate, That is a real shame.

I know our service schedule reflects in the price, minor services from memory are around the $350 mark & then depending on what service is required the price increases depending on parts & labour times.

The Toyota side of things i am not to sure about there service schedules, but i have a good mate who purchased his 200Series TDV8 just after me & he is appalled at the servicing cost...beleive me they are not $250

    Cheers.
