Don't you know that's a land rover specialty

They have been doing that atleast since 2000. My td5 also had this speciality with the centrifugal filter.

After the dealer did it twice in a row, I had had enough and have never gone back. Was paying $120 an hour in 2000 for their servicing, when they were only paying the apprentices $9 an hour then.

Once I have had my 26000km service, I am going to a speciality land rover shop for future services. I value my car more than the dealer over here does.

If I was in Melbourne I would be going to sniegys shop.....you can tell by his time on the forum he cares.

    Brett....

Whilst one hopes for such a simple cause and thus solution to a significant oil leak, it would annoy the hell out of me because it should never happen (should never fit an oil filter without fully tightening it then checking it for leaks once the engine was running), it could have caused major engine damage if not noticed and could have been a real inconvenience.

And a great name it is!!..there's not to many of us....i did meet someone in my workplace once and we spent all of our time explaining we were not brothers!!
Good to see the name gravitates us to the LR brand....I'm on my 3rd LR and will get another one!

also...good to see this problem was simply an Oil Filter....and they didn't clean it....I'd be looking for a better service agent!

I recently got my D4 back from a service......a few days later I noticed as I backed into my driveway, a massive puddle of fluid. Water...nah too much, coolant...nah wrong colour....opened the door of my car.....nothing to worry about, my driveway was awash with fuel............ Fortunately diesel!

Fuel filter housing according to LR....but probably more like 'Passion Fingers Fitter', if you know what I mean? Apparently the o-ring is easy to damage or something....

It ****'s me no end, but I have rarely a bad thing to say about the service I've recieved lately at LR.

I've had issues with every brand I've owned, regardless of cost...recently with my wife's new MB....freakin tragic service.....all glitz and no substance.....clowns didn't even inspect the wheels and tyres. Idiots couldn't even wash the car properly.....but you can go and have lunch and a glass of wine while you wait.....WTF?....Just service the car!!!

    Thanks Paul,

Which guys do you mean? Redcliffe is a fair hike from my place but with those stats, could be worth it though.

As I said, lately (last couple of years) they have actually been really good. This one incident ****ed me off though. I guess they let newbies loose on the cars from time to time.

    Cheers,

    Kev.

I will not use Austral ever again. I will use the Southside Landrover people (I know they are the same group) as they have given me great service. I had the car flat bedded to Austral (Fortitude Valley) as the suspension had collapsed. Supplied them with a brand new LR compressor and asked them to fit it. They decided it needed a new suspension controller so stiffed me for that but, to top it all they have broken the compressor cover and still not fixed the suspension correctly. It looks like someone had driven over the compressor cover. When I mentioned it to them they said I must have done it offroad. Could not ptrove it had not been damaged before it went to them.
Southside on the other hand have been great. Took the car in to have the fuel flap fixed and not only was the price good they cleaned the car outside and gave it a quick hoover inside as well. Same happened when I had to get two new keys (replaced under third party warranty) and had to go to them for programming.

You guessed it,Redcliffe,it is a LONG way from my place as well, but i find it is well worth the drive.Dunno about newbies, more than likely the first yr apprentice on $9.00 an hour.
They(the dealer Austral) actually didn't do a bad job on the son's Puma, and it had only ever been to Redcliffe for services, but MR do have a very good relationship with the dealer as well, which helps.

My D4 will only be going to MR.
