Can anyone help point me in the right direction to Disco3QLD. I'm interested in a set of rock sliders for a D4.

Also those that have rock sliders fitted how much stone damage is there now under the sill? I'm of the impression that the black plastic sill protection covers come off in order to install the slider bar. Is this correct?

    Glendaragh,

I got some sliders from Brad, Disco3Qld, and am really happy with them. I just got in contact with him through sending him a private message through the forum.

I am guessing you have tried that but I don't think he is on the forum all the time, and remember it is January - so he might just be away on holidays.

He is good at getting back to you normally.

No touching the chassis rails as such but if I remember rightly a couple of fastenings go into the body mounts/along the pinch seam...

Had them shipped here, from memory at the time approx $950 delivered.

Maybe the GOE ones are alright, but the pictures on the website aren't very good, does anyone with GOE sliders and stand off bars have a good picture they can post?

These are the rss I got from Peninsula Rangie ( imported from USA). They fit well, replace the side moulding but secure underneath. I even attached a compressor plate also

    GOE sliders

Ive ordered a set of GOE sliders, I did prefer the look of Brads sliders, however I was concerned with weight. Bull bar, rear bar and long range tank, add on the camper and it could be getting up there.
Gordon did say when I spoke to him that you could have larger stand off bars like the ones on his Rangie, however they would impede on ground clearance a bit.
Also read the posts regarding steel verses alloy, interesting.

I"ll post up some pictures when I receive them and get them fitted, hopefully in thenext couple of weeks.

    Just to clarify:

I originally designed the bars on the GOE sliders when I was competing in the D3. As such, the three main criteria were:
    • must not reduce ground clearance
    • must be light
    • must be strong enough to take at least half the weight of the car

This is the reason I use a smaller diameter tube. To compensate, I use a tube with thicker sidewalls. Some people don't like the look of the thinner tube - that's personal choice, but you then loose a few cm of clearance under the sills. On request, I can produce sliders with larger-diameter tubing as long as you understand the drawbacks.

    Cheers,

    Gordon
