    Mickey Thompson STZ?

Anybody got 18 inch STZ's on there Discovery?
I have Cooper AT3's that are 53,000kms old and I am starting to figure out what my next tyres should be next.
AT3's have been great and replacements will have to be very good to beat them.
    Any information is greatly appreciated.

Exceptional tyre but not LT either.

It was going to be these because I've run MT for years now on my vehicles until Bridgestone released the D697 in an LT to fit straight on the 18's...

I've now done 3,000km on the D697s and must say very, very impressed.

Grip well in rain (we had 20mm on site recently), clay they bite well and clear easily, on loose dirt (outback highway) the are sure footed. On blacktop they are very quiet and stable. On rock on shale they haven't torn, chunked or suffered any damage.

So for the first time in years I've gone away from MT and very satisfied.

    mbecker7,

I did a trip around Mt Walker/Lithgow yesterday and a guy in a D4 who had these on.

They seemed to perform pretty well, and whilst they had not been on for long he was happy with them.

He failed on one climb, but so did most of the cars, but I think it was more to do with the fact he was new to the D4 and did not realise he need to turn the DSC off, which was pointed out to him a bit latter. No fault of the tyres.

No scrubbing and they looked very good on.

I have a couple of clients with the STZ's fitted - they're both very happy with them, on and off-road. One was very concerned about road noise, but claims the STZ's are no noisier than the OEM tyres.

    Cheers,

I've had a fair few different tyres and in my opinion the Mickey T's stand out as the best I have had, they will be my next tyre in fact I might even change early

    Mickey Thompson STZ 18s

After 12 months of deliberation I fitted the Mickey Thompson 265 60 18 s this week on GOE rims.

They feel good, a lot smoother, quieter and more responsive than the 19" Wranglers from new.

My brother in law has run them for the past 12 months on a 2002 Range Rover and D2 and swears by them. His been a specialist landrover mechanic for 20 years (not that that qualifies him on tyres I suppose).

Any way I will post some pics fyi and report back in in a few months on how they are going.
