Hi Guys,
I have a D3 V8 HSE.
To work and back (About 130Kms /day) i average 12-13l/100, in mixed traffic conditions. On a longer trip i can get down to mid 11's.
The 4.4l is a great engine, very smooth and has a surprising amount of take off when needed.
Cheers
Ben

D3 Petrol fuel economy figures
D3 v8 hse here also - gets 16 in short stop start trips; 13 or so on longer trips in traffic; under 11 at continuous crushing at 100ish and ... 20+ when used in anger in harsh offroad. Smooth, quiet, sonorous and powerful engine.

The wife gets 18+ in the V6 but she is very heavy footed and that is mainly the school run so not very far either.
When I drive it I still accelerate quite hard as my daily is a turbo subaru, however i get closer to 13's when I drive in the city but I drive in sports mode (not manually changing) as the auto tries to get up to high to soon and the engine will be out of it's sweet spot too quickly.
On country trips easily get 10-11 on the open road (cruise around 125km/hr) as an average and 12-13 with the camper trailer on the back.
Sand and offroad - well definitely 20+
We run 20 inch rims and tyres around the city so they are a bit wider than standard and run 18 inch with AT General Grabbers on trips

Did 640km today. Melb to Tathra which is about 75% flat highway and 25% low hills. Got 13.8l/100 towing a 7x5 trailer, 5 in the car and also mine has a bulbar and winch so I'm happy with that.
Regardless of v6,v8 or diesel...a very comfortable trip.

I get 12-15 on the Highway and 15-19 when I tow a camper-trailer.
