The 5 min method as follows.

Firstly get yourselves 8 or 10mm plastic irrigation pipe union or something similar.

On your a pillar lift the air bag plastic off and unscrew the torx screw, take off the cover.
Take a stanley knife and cut the rubber pipe anywhere.
Blow up with the sunroof open and you will see plenty dust and leaves fly out.

When you blow down, you'll experience a back pressure because it's blocked and suddenly you'll hear a whooz sound as everything blows out.

Insert the union, and use tie straps to fasten and voila, put the cover back , all this in less then 5 min both sides instead of hours.

Remember there is no pressure, the water runs down on gravity , so once a year , open up and blow clean.
thanks, thats sounds quick will give that a go as soon as bunnings opens

    help my D3 is leaking

any idea how I remove the side panel where the bonnet opener sits in the passenger side? trying to get under carpet to remove the water underneath.

any suggestions to trying the carpet out? i would assume you can't take it easily out for drying?

    Hi,

Just before the next rain comes I just managed to blow trough the hoses with a airbed pump and fix the joiner (they do not have barbed joiners anymore just the hose joiners so hope that holds.

Also removed the air intake and it seems like drain hose is quite long and there is the possibility to go in air intake (would think I want to avoid this?)

Under the passenger floor the carpet and foam is soaking wet just wondering whether someone has removed the carpets and has any how to's?
Do I need to remove the seats?

    Cheers

    Steve

Look on the bright side Steve you found out yours was leaking when you opened the door.

I to had only just bought our D3 secondhand and it rained within days, I needed to drive up to Sydney for a very important business meeting.

So I got all dressed up and then jumped into my new pride and joy and reversed out to turn round when about half a litre of water poured over the top of the closed sunroof straight into my lap. ...

My crutch looked like I needed to wear incontinence pads, luckily my pants had pretty much dried out by the time I got there. ...

    Cheers,
    Terry
