    D3 battery problems

Hi not here often enough but I'm sure someone knows something that may help. Sometimes, randomly the vehicle won't start or will crank but not run. Any common faults that I could check out?

    Hi,

Do a search on battery issues for the D3/4. With any hard starting issues, the first item to eliminate from the list is the battery. Even if it tests up ok, there are numerous documented issues, where the starting problems continue with the 'tested ' battery, but disappear, as soon as the battery is replaced. If you want more information and feedback, you will need to post more data. When the problems occur, the circumstances at the time, what messages are coming up, etc, etc.

Sorry forgot to mention. That's the thing, I changed the battery, it charges at 13.7 volts all seams well... I have fitted a 2nd battery charged via a red arc dc-dc 20amp charger. Should not have anything to do with it really. I'm a auto accessory installer so I can do auto electrical fault finding. But there is not much more I can think of. I was hoping it was a common thing that happens to the d3...

Have you tried disconnecting the Redarc and seeing if the problems still occur?

Hi Tio and there is a potential problem with bad earth connections on D3s.

The earth on the block is fine but where it earths to the body can corrode and it’s a cow to get at as it’s under the plastic inner guard.

Just a suggested possible cause of your problem.
