From one of the guys on DISCO4, who times his Touareg and D4 0-100km/h times (using the iOS app Rev), found the Touareg quoted times was optimistic, whereas the D4 times were pessimistic (he got sub 9 seconds).
Perhaps LR didn't want quoted times for the D4 to be too close to that of the RRS.
Perhaps it's a case of giving it a go and see...
On two occasions, which I have posted on this forum a couple of months ago, my D4 out accelerated my Touareg....both in normal and sport. Sport mode was used for the quickest time.....it was almost a full second faster in sport. The Jeep has the same power and torque as my Touareg but possibly lighter. If the same weight the the Jeep it's unlikely to out accelerate my D4.Quote:

Having said that my wife drives a 6.2 litre HSV Senator, so I know better than to pull up alongside her at the lights.
We argued back and forth over D4 vs LC200 3 years ago. The final consensus was that _both_ power figures and weight quoted for the LC200 are measured quite differently to the way LR derive them. The quoted LC200 acceleration time of 8.2 sec was either a misprint or for a very different engine (I suspected they confused the diesel with the petrol) as every magazine test put it at over 10 sec.
Do a search with gghaggis + rmp + LC200 for all the sordid details.

Cruisers were always sluggish.
A D2 V8 was quicker than the big straight 6 that they ran that was over half a litre bigger than the little V8 in the Rover and the Rover gave the V8 petrol in the Cruiser a run for its money. The term Lardy Arse comes to mind.

The petrol 4.7 in the LC is only about 5kw more in power and much less in torque so I wouldn't have thought there would be much difference between the engines particularly in a 0-100 run - difference would be more about how the power was delivered rather than actual figures. Some motoring writers have said the diesel is the better all round performer on the road.Quote:
