    Jacking up car?

    Has anyone tried jacking up there car using the llams putting it on stands and lowered it again? Does the wheels come off the ground? Might sound like a silly question but I'm curious.

    Not for me....it goes to "emergency" height (I think that's what it's called). But I have only lifted the front or rear axle at any one time.

    Someone has mentioned a trick with getting the jack in the right spot, which apparently causes that wheel to lift...but have not yet tried it.

    Just need to borrow another trolley jack and give it a shot. Would be a real neat trick. Actually have to get the tyres rotated and a wheel alignment shortly, so will get them to try.

    A word of caution, do forget to leave one of the doors open.

    By leaving a door open, you lockout the self-leveling feature.

    Note, that’s one of the four main doors and not the tailgate.

    Leaving the tailgate open has no effect on the self-leveling feature.

    The D3/4 self-levelling still operates with a door open - its only height changes such as going from normal to off-road or access that are inhibitted or suspended. Its very obvious when selecting a different Llams height, which is totally reliant on the self-levelling capability.

    No they don't. The air suspension can't pick the wheels up, only dump air to allow the weight of the vehicle to compress the airbags.

    I've only done it on the rear end of the car using a trolley jack, but if you jack the car up where the shockabsorber/ air spring attach to the wish bone the wheel will come off the ground as the car tries to self level? I think that's how it works, but it does work.

    When I got my tyres changed at the tire shop they jacked from the chassis and they had to jack it a long way up before the wheel came off the ground, not something I would want to be seeing on the side of the road.

    The trick, from DISCO4, was to raise to off road height, place a jack under the wishbone of the tyre you want to change and wind until it just engages.

    Then drop the height. The jack acts the fulcrum to cock that wheel.

    Thanks for the info guys was reading up somewhere about recovery options in the sand and it was said you could bump up to offroad height and shove a log or something under the chassis then lower it it will then go into extended mode to help extract vehicle. Has anyone done this? When I read it it got me thinking. That's why I thought it would be cool if you could raise the wheels or something to make it easier to rotate tyres or changing wheels etc.

    I use this for putting my trailer on and off. As other probably mentioned as does your user guide you should have the car up high in off road height before jacking. Even with a door open your idea might see your car raise or lower to get the wheel back on the ground. A door open is 'supposed' to stop it altering the height you set just not for mine perhaps.
