Hitch and keys for hitch if it comes with one.
Jack and jack handle, wheel spanner, wheel chocks etc.
Hi all,
Well the day has arrived! I'm off today to pick up my (almost) new MY12 D4 SDV6 SE tomorrow. I'll be flying interstate to get it, so havent yet seen it in the flesh, but it has less than 15,000 on the clock with more than 2.5 yrs left on the warranty.
I am prepared to walk if it's anything other than what has been described but after a number of conversations, I'm confident that the person I'm talking to is genuine.
Just getting my head around a checklist. So far I have:
- Both set of keys
- Books
What else should I check?
Hitch and keys for hitch if it comes with one.
Jack and jack handle, wheel spanner, wheel chocks etc.
Check for huge grin on face before getting in and driving it.
Have you got the VIN? You could check it out on Topix and with a dealer prior to purchase.
Cheers,
Gordon
Thanks all. YES, I am slightly excited.
I have had a look at TOPIX. I'm not really sure what I'm looking at but it does say:
"Outstanding Campaigns: There are currently no outstanding Campaigns for this vehicle"
I assume that's good. Are there any other things in TOPIX that i should be concerned with?
Given the low k's, I wasn't too worried about services.
A careful visual inspection should reveal if it has been flogged.
Mostly I just want to make sure that I get all the bits and pieces that I should be getting. Any other advice gladly received!
TOPIx, if you have the VIN, should give you the full specification of the vehicle, as built. That's what I used to make sure the dealer ordered the correct items due to earlier stuff ups.
You can then use it to check off against the vehicle the seller presents, to make sure nothing has been removed or added.
I have a second disco 3HSE and had to chase the original equip roof rack keys and the tow bar disengage ( the plough disengage to obscene exit angle ) key. Worked ou ok but to learn how to disengage the tow bar is a life lesson if you design anything!!!!!!!

Well, it's done. Picked it up in Bowral NSW and drove back to Melbourne today.
Very happy with the purchase! It's got to be inspected by VicRoad this Wednesday and get its VIC plates.

It's got 14,500 on the clock. Since I need a VIC RW anyway, I wonder if I should take it down to ULR to have its pre-service first service 13k check over...?
That's one excited young fella! I reckon there's pretty much the same expression on the face on the other side of the camera!
Cheers,
Sean

If you think that's excited, you should have seen him dance a jig when I asked if he wanted to fly up to Sydney to drive the car back with me!
