    UHF antenna mount

all - i know this has been covered a few times on here, but i couldnt search out any specific feedback on this mount:

    Aerial Bracket

i can see one drawback for it, that would need some thin foam to be stuck on the inside so it doesnt scratch the paint - other than that, has anyone actually used one and can give any feedback ?

at $66 its worth trying, but dont want to use it if its not upto the job - shear loads when the antenna is being bent back from either wind or bush could lead to it twisting and damaging surrounding bodywork ?

    thx

I have one and it works great. My aerial has taken a beating with branches on narrow tracks and so far so good. You are right, I small foam/rubber piece would stop the cable from rubbing on the side of the car, but I have found it only to be a minimal amount.

I have it as well. Works great. Very solid I do not think it would bend and damage body work. It says it is for a medium antenna and I'd take that advice. I wouldn't fit a large fibreglass one. It has rubber on it on the points that touch (or might touch) the body work so I haven't used any extra protection. Dealers choice on that one though.

I use a Benelec adjustable tilt trunklip mount, 027303, mounted on the rear of the bonnet near the passenger's side. In scrubby terrain it allows the antenna to be tilted inwards so it is in front of the windscreen and so doesn't project out the side at all. It also doesn't need to fit between the bonnet and the guard.

    MAte,

I have that one as well.

From the picture you can just see it has some shrink wrapped plastic around the area it touches the paint work so no need for foam!

Mine has also been bashed by foliage and cruised around at 115kph all with a 600mm whip aerial affixed and not problem.

They are pretty strong and fixed via the bonnet strut mounting point so you would need to hit something for it bend and lets face it it protrudes less than your wheel arch so you would likely be damaging more than the aerial mount anyway.

Cheap, easy to install and works well, not bad for $66.

Hi from reaading the threads I gather there are two options for my D4: Benelec 027303 mont and one from LAB Electronics. Is this correct and if so which one is best?

I've got my Benelec mounted up on one of the legs of my roof rack... works for me... I can reach up and move it backwards/down from the drivers seat (I have the bolt just tight enough for "hand operation")
