    Goodyear OEM tyres not available

    Hi,

I've got a nearly new set of the standard Goodyear tyres back on the disco. And now I've got a ripped sidewall on one... So I've no spare at the moment.

Goodyear are no longer importing the tyres into Australia and the tyre places have offered me a Goodyear Efficient Grip SUV, which is a large road tyre. They have admitted that this would not be safe to use on the front of the car with the HT on the other wheel. Should I need to fit to to the rear I should drive as far as the nearest tyre dealer and replace the rest of the set. Doesn't sound like a deal to me...

I've rung a lot of places and nobody has any available.

I was trying not to change brands to avoid problems caused by different nominal sizes between brands. But that just isn't possible.

What are the other OEM tyres fitted to the D3? Is it the Pirelli Scorpion ATR?

The goal here is the nearest is size & grip characteristics to the OEM Goodyear.

    Any suggestions?

    Steve

If you can find an economical way to get them from SA to Bris I have 5 goodyears - 4 with only 10,000km on them and 1 brand new.

Oops, I've moved to Sydney, one of the reasons I've been quiet recently.

Courier quotes very from 85-500 to get one tyre shipped! It is quite alarming.

I have the road hazard warranty on the tyres, so if I can find an appropriate one to fit then it will only cost me the proportion of the tread I've worn off (i.e. not a lot).

However, if I get really stuck, and you don't want the earth for the new one, I might just take you up on it.

    Thanks, Steve

Continental Xcontact and Pirelli Scorpion (NOT the ATR) are also OEM - should be available in that size? Would certainly do for a spare.

    Cheers,

I got a second hand 19 inch from British and Sweedish (N. Narrabeen Tyrepower)
You could try other yre places and see.
Anoying for you when you need only one but they are a very poor tyre so when you need a new set get something better (GG ats?)

    Get them from the states...http://www.tirerack.com

2 years ago I got a set of 4 Pirelli Scorpian ATR P255/60R18 @ USD 240 each. Shipping was USD 356. Compared to Oz prices I got a trye free inc the shipping cost.

As long as the cost of goods is below AUD 1000 you wont pay GST.

Send an email to mac@tirerack.com to request a shipping quote when you have selected tyres. You can't order international on the website direct and you will need to direct transfer the money.

Recently they have been quoting silly shipping costs.
    Pressure from manufacturers?

So I just ordered Scorpian ATRs 255/60/18 from Bob Jane in Cleveland for $344 each. BobJane originally quoted $400 each but Jaqx quoted $349 so Bob Jane priced matched plus 10% of difference.

Kmart wanted $395 and TyrePower would go to $339 but they are 25ks from me...

Price now matches importing from US although still $100 more per tyre but they wanted $400 shipping.
