    D4 lighting

    Hi All,

The Disco 4 rear luggage area lighting is terrible, a single 5 watt globe is not sufficient in lighting the area when looking for thing and camping.

I have developed an Aluminium profile strip and bracket system to provide brilliant lighting that clips to the rear plastic and uses the existing rear light cabling and access hole. No damage to any parts, restoring to old internal lamp can be done in 10 minutes.

The LED's are 2 strips of 320mm long with 120 LED/metre, furthermore the LED mounting plate has a three way switch which allows on for normal use, off and permanently on.

The new LED light strip is simple to install and the effective lighting is a massive improvement.

Very satisfied now with the rear lighting. I also changed all T10 internal globes with T10 LED lighting, the effective lighting has dramatically improved and consumes led energy all round.

    Regards

    Gerald

Did something similar yesterday on my D3. Connected it to the existing light and used some Velcro "coins" to fit it to the roof. And I have very limited knowledge of the electricals... It makes such a huge difference as you can see from the on/off photo. Took me under 30 minutes to do.

Looks great! In case those velcro dots don't hold well against bumps at rattles, at Officeworks you can find the 3m "industrial fasteners" which are an extremely strong form of velcro.

True, I tried Velcro and found it just pealed off when the car got hot when parked.

Just curious did you change the globe in the lower glove compartment? I couldn't get this one. Did you have to remove the glove box door?

    Cheers

    Pete
