    Throttle sticking?

    The issue is :
Car drifting along less than 40km hr at idle throttle, if i give the throttle a very light press/tap, the revs increase and stay there for several seconds before returning to idle. the rev increase is greater than you would expect from the slight press/tap on the throttle and the length of throttle "over run" sonetimes requires breaking to stop accelerating in the traffic.

The UK D3 site mentions the problem but no diagnosis/solution.

Any one here got any clues?

    thanks in advance

    Hi,

Now are you tapping the pedal then release or slight consistant press?

Would you be feeling the transmission kicking down to first from second
very common on D3 that have adapted to hard accel driving.

    Regards
    Wael

This is case of throttle overrun where the revs slightly increase above idle from a slight increase in pedal but do not go back to idle when the pedal is released, the increased revs remain for about 5-8seconds, like the throttle is stuck.

I'm pretty sure there was a PCM software update for this issue

Symptom light throttle application causes the car to take off

Its been a problem with mine since vie had it. Especially when in low range and about to go down steep decent, it takes off. Very disconcerting. Dealer has never found a problem. I have gotten used to it and now it hardly bothers me as I have adjusted my driving to suit. Someone on here pointed out to me once its the transmission. At low revs and probably in 1st gear its more problem, but I hear you. I've got it…….you may come to accept it over time, but takes time to get used to .

I got this info from Euro haus.

"Im pretty confident that the software update to the PCM will iron out that throttle response. Just ask for a PCM Software upgrade should be half hour labour.

There isn't a bulletin as such for throttle sticking there a PCM and transmission combination software upgrade for transmission thumping when slowing down then applying throttle."

As I also have an issue of "hard down shift" (thumping) after slowing down and then applying throttle (after a tight corner) I will do some research and try to find the software update and report back.

    Cheers
