Job done - Finally got my D3 HSE 2.7td

I have just purchased this past weekend an HSE 2.7td Disco3, mind you this is after 6 months of trying to find the right one at the right price.

    I have seen multiple 40-50k D3's, and a few S and SE's around 30k.
And a white one on the VIC/NSW border that I tried to get information from the dealership for literally 2 months and nothing was sent through even after me chasing them constantly.

She is Silver, in HSE trim, diesel 2.7, MY07 with no sat nav unfortunately, but I guess worth the sacrifice for the price difference. Paint is almost perfect and the interior is also brilliant.
Has over 170kms on the clock, was a one owner with excellent service history and everything that needed to be changed has been.

Thanks to all you wonderful forum posters for the excellent information, and the the forum members who helped me out with pre purchase questions.

I had the car indepentantly checked by a really top bloke, he works down the sutho area and knows Landies inside and out, had some really great pointers for me too.
Mechanic2You - Peter is his name, and he spent a few hours looking over the car for me with every tiny detail listed and only wanted $150 for his time and advice. And peace of mind!
Any of you Toorak Tractor lovers need a reliable guy call Peter on:
    0419 427 162

And the best bit - Got it for under 30k with 12 months rego and just serviced.

Went out on Sunday into the bush with some friends and my father in his 100 series with a big lift, 4.2 diesel and aftermarket turbo, the Disco smashed the cruiser in every department, especially in performance, surprisingly to all of us! And the Disco didn't slide anywhere near as much in the mud with road tyres V's new AT's on the Cruiser..? are they really this good or was I high on life from the new purchase...

So next step is to meet some of the forum goers and hopefully tag along on some beginner 4wd'n trips (in NSW) to learn pointers and how on earth the electronically controlled everything works.

    Congratulations!
    Looks really nice
Get used to embarrassing those cruiser / patrol drivers! Sometimes you have to go wrong on purpose, just to make them feel a bit better

If you're heading off road, get hold of Gordon from Green Oval Experience and spend the best $140 (ish) you ever will on a set of his suspension rods. Cheap, easy and reliable 2" lift that you can return to standard as you're airing up

    Welcome
Looks like a sister of mine!
The black wheel arches are a plus in my book, they can take a hammering and still look presentable. Unlike the painted ones especially metalic paint.

Join a 4wd club, they will all have a driver training course you can do. Only L/R based clubs will be able to teach you re Terrain Response though.
    (Apart from Gordon / GOE)
Where in Sydney do you live? Sutherland?

If you do a search re Rods and LLAMS you will find many posts giving opinions which is best. ( LLAMS for me)

Dont worry too much about not having Sat Nav - a Garmin is much better!
    Do you have the screen?
Best of all do you know if you have the ediff?

    Thanks Rich,

Yeah, you sure it isn't the same car?

Located in Western Sydney actually, but happy to travel for LR meets. Not sure if I would be allowed into the Shire if they were aware of my current living location...That's how it works isn't it?

Pretty keen on a Llams actually, I have done a fair bit of research. Putting the pennies aside and or continually asking for approval to spend.

No screen, empty hole. But I have a Tomtom in it for now.

Not sure on the e-diff, is their a VIN code or something to help? I am assuming its a no.

Put your car in off road height look in passenger side rear wheel arch and have a look on top of your rear axle.
You should be able to see if there is a box up high like this:

DISCO3.CO.UK - View topic - REAR DIFF LOCK ON GS!!

    Here are 2 clubs:
Range Rover Club: Range Rover Club NSW Home Page meeting place varies to sponsors sites, All Wheel Drive Club of Sydney: All Wheel Drive Club of Sydney - Home meet @ Forestville.

If you are looking for something soon, then check out the Range Rover Club of NSW. Despite the name, they actually accept Discovery (as well as all LR & RR branded cars as of this year). There is a sand driving course on 13/7/2013.

Check out the photos and videos on their site: Range Rover Club NSW Home Page

Well done on the purchase! Great to hear it's done you proud already!

Sign up to TOPIX for free - you'll be able to enter your vin to see what features it was built with (e-dif etc). It's a great resource.

You can pay to get access to additional technical info as well.
    Cheers,

    Sean
