    Earth issue?

    G'day all,

Having a minor issue with my '06 RRS
Firstly, the airbag light came on today for no apparent reason. It has been known to come on in the past, mainly under hard acceleration & turning. Turning the engine off and on again cleared this every time. Put my fault reader on it today and it showed a seatbelt pre-tensioner earth fault.
Secondly, the cruise control only seems to work when it feels like it, and then only the first time (if it stops working, it won't work again until the next engine off and on again). Sometimes it won't work again for a few days

I'm thinking the two problems may be linked to the same earth?
If so, any ideas where to track it down?

    Thanks in advance.
    Rohan

Cruise control only sometimes working could be due to the brake light switch either out of adjustment or faulty and needs replacing.

There is an earth stud or 2 behind the driver's side kick panel so perhaps have a look there anyway.

Now you mention it, the brake light switch did show up a while ago as a fault. Cheers.
Kick panel? That's to the right of the accelerator pedal, in front of the door?

Yes. With the door rubber pulled off around the cover and the floor trim lifted at the front, the panel slides backwards out of its clips, well sort of anyway.

Hi Rohan, my D3 has the same problem with the cruise, if it doesnt set first go, then it wont till the car is turned off and restarted, well most of the time.

Am interested if you find a solution, please post

    Cheers Andrew

Will post when I (or Ritters ) solve it.
I think it will turn out to be the brake light switch as mentioned above.

Tell them to check the steering wheel clock spring. Many issues to do with airbag or cruise on the steering wheel are often related to that, the contacts wear out and/or the plug fails

Here speaketh the voice of experience

I can second that. Especially with both playing up the clock spring is the likely suspect.
