Sounds scary. Had a few random faults etc appear at times which switching off, locking, unlocking and restarting fixes up, but nothing like that.

OR A CITROEN C4 (LEMON) Our Citroen doese that but doesn't loose power but dealer wont beleave us when we tell them. DEAD DANGEROUS Do you know Citroen stands for citrus , Lemon.

I had a similar problem with mine, it only occurred on bumpy roads. It took a while to figure out as it was fairly intermittent and I'm not real smart.
It turns out the weight of the other keys on my keyring was turning the ignition off when a large bump was felt. One solution was to put the keys in the other way around so the weight of the keys was trying to turn the ignition on.
Another solution is to remove the other keys from the car key so it isn't flogging the ignition switch.
The best solution was buying a D4 with no ignition switch.

Thanks for the info .. I'm hoping this is the solution to the problem. There is a fair weight of other appendages on the key ring. They're being removed! Personally I liked your last solution "buying a D4" .. sadly the wife's not interested yet

Did the same in my RRS, leaning down to scratch an itchy shin! Knocked the ignition off In a moment of panic I just flicked it back on again, still in drive, everything ok
