Alternative to std 20" Conti Cross Contact UHPs

I've chewed out another set of Cross Contacts. Great tyres but just don't last long and brutally expensive. What are some other suggestions???
Primarily road use as I have a set of 18" off-road wheels. (although the conti's have actually been pretty impressive for what they are when used off-road)

I am getting some Dunlop Quattro Maxx 20's fitted next week. I was going for the Conti but after a bit of online research that showed poor life I changed my choice.

Have you looked at the LTZ from cooper, more an A/T style but they seem to get a pretty good wrap as an all round option and they come in 20 inch !

Yokahama do a Geolander H/T in 20 inch and they seem to be generally well regarded

I had the Conti UHP on my D3 for the first 25K-30K and they were awesome on road, very quite, great rolling efficiency and grip, but as you note the wear was very rapidly particularly if they do anything but black top!

Have gone A/T ever since so not so well up on the more road biased options.

    Regards,

    George

I have Pirelli Scorpion Zero on mine, I can't comment on the wear yet, however they are very capable and quiet.

The price from Tempe Tyres seems reasonable as well.

The Dunlops are no go now. They can get 3 but a 2 week delay on the 4th if supply is a problem then I don't want this tyre.

I have the Pirelli Scorpion Zero as well and they are great on the road and very quiet. That price from Tempe is fantastic as I had to replace one tyre two weeks after buying the car (glass through the side wall) and I was quoted $700 from two places until we tried the dealer we got the car from and they did one for $500.

I just ordered a set of these from Tempe Tyres.
They knocked a bit off the price plus the freight as well and they are going to ship out tomorrow.
My nephew is going to fit and balance them for a carton of corona's so should be all done for about $1000 which I'm more than happy with.

I have gone back on the Dunlop choice. I have the tyres on back order. These are a 100% road tyre which is what I wanted. If I damage a tyre and need to wait for a replacement I will just put the 18's back on.

I will let you all know how the Dunlops go.
