Wifi scanners on eBay are about $20 and tablet was either 160 or 180 and obviously can be used for other things and probably easier to read on the go.

Sure, it's not an app, but then it is not a toy either!
Unfortunately, It does not monitor EGT's according to scangauge people in Australia.

I am waiting for the Torque app developers to come back to me about EGT's monitoring.....only runs on android though.
I already have the wifi scanner setup for iPhone and iPad using Rev app which is really good...but no monitoring of EGT's. Also a bracket for tyre monitors and one for UHF hand piece.
Having another screen.....might get a bit too busy though. The iPad is sensational for so many other touring uses.

I ordered a Bluetooth scanner but it wouldn't connect to my iPhone but it came with a mini cd that had several programs on it.
Never tried any of them.... I could email them to you if you want? But you would need a Bluetooth laptop or maybe android device.

    Cheers

Have a look at ISSPRO.com - Quality Gauges, Tachometers, Speedometers and more!. These are the high quality end of the gauge business and designed for use in heavy trucks etc. to withstand the heat, dust, vibration, and bouncing around in severe service. They have an on-line shop.

A probe in the downpipe isn't going to tell you anything useful. They have to be in the manifold or just don't bother. Too much heat is removed by the turbocharger.

I have a scangauge 2 in my tdi car, it doesn't do EGT but there have been firmware updates since. I can plug VCDS (aka VAGCOM) in and get an EGT reading. But that requires a laptop.
