Thread: Cairns home base before moving to the Cape

Hi All,

1.5 weeks after leaving Melbourne, we reached Cairns at a steady pace stopping to see as much as possible via the inland route.

MY13 D4 8 speed towed with easy the TVAN, infact you hardly feel it's there. The TVAN and D4 track very well and so far the ave. fuel consumption is around 13.2lts/100km, this is fully loaded Kaymar rear bar, ARB winch bar and winch and stacked to within 18kg of max permissible limits.

The only issue is, the D4 tank in my view is way to small. Unfortunately, I did not get time to fit a after market long range tank, it would be handy, however I am carrying an extra 4 jerry cans and always keep to as reserve.

I am in a group of 4 other vehicles including mine, we set out Tuesday morning and have set 2 weeks aside to do the cape and come back down to Cairns.
