						Hi All,
The Oil Pump in my D4 has failed. This is the first time I've heard of one leaking. (77K on the ODO). It's leaked oil everywhere and damaged several things including the timing belt.
Anybody else experienced this?
Cheers,
Kev.

There's a number of stories about them breaking in the 2.7 D3 (the part was redesigned 4 or 5 times as a result) but not heard anything in a D4.

Oil pump failed or the front crankshaft seal failed? The crankshaft seal is located in the front of the oil pump housing. Crankshaft seals in general can be wrecked by dirt/grit/sand ingress.

A leaking seal is one thing but one that is no longer in-situ is another.
So will the seals come out on all these engines/pump housings eventually?

I don't know, but this part
"NOTE: All oil pumpsproduced since the 2nd May 2012 will have the updated bore finish."
Doesn't give a warm fuzzy feeling.
