    The D3 has greater clearance between the chassis and tyre when the wheel is at full lock, so I wouldn't expect any rubbing, seeing as how minimal it is on a D4.

    Hey Gordon,

    To continue picking your brain, I have Cooper AT3 265/60/18 on my D4 TDV6 2.7. I tow a 2.5 tonne off road caravan in to remote places where it gets set up as a base camp. From there we’ll head off for day trips on more rugged trails.

    Can’t say I’m overly trilled with the AT3s for my application and was wondering what you may think would be a better alternative from:

    Bridgestone D697 LT 265/60/18, keeps the same size but adds LT construction with higher load rating for towing;

    Bridgestone D697 LT 285/60/18, accept the spare wheel storage issues, LT & higher load rating for towing plus extra sidewall height for off road work. But will scrub??;

    Cooper Zeon LTZ 285/60/18, Same spare issues, not LT but has the highest load rating plus extra sidewall height. But will scrub??

    Cheers

    The 285 sizes will rub at the front on full lock, more so with the LR 18" rims. They'll also touch the rear inner wheel well's plastic liner on full compression (not significantly), and getting your tow-hitch receiver on and off can be tricky.

    The 265's I'd look at would be the D697's and the Mickey Thompson STZ.

    Cheers,

    Gordon

    No problems with the AT3's on my Disco 3 with 18" rims. They have been on approx. 3 months. Watch the warranty though, read the small print carefully.
    Unless you live in the city area, you haven't got a lot of warranty. Which I haven't living out in the sticks.
    I did think that the Continental AT that I have replaced, held the bitumen better. The steering is noticeably different. Good luck.

    I fitted the 265/60R18 AT3's. No rubbing.

    hi

    the cooper AT3 are 265 60 18
    and the discover 3 fits a 255 60 18.is there any problem in fitting the spare under the car as its slightly larger and I realized that its a tight fit already?

    After looking around I have decided on the Cooper AT3 (265/65R18) which seem like a decent AT tyre. Any comments on this one? I have seen a few posts but nothing really recent on this one. I would have like to have gone for a more aggressive 275 but worried about rubbing in lower than access mode. I have a LLAMS fitted and use this to go lower than access to fit in my underground car park so it's a compromise. Has anyone tried this out with a larger tyre? My low access mode is not far from the stops so does not give me much wiggle room.

    Any comments would be great on the AT3 or the size.
    hi I am looking at the same tyres but how will it fit in the spare compartment under the car the spare tyre its slightly larger than the originals 255 60 18?

    Hi Matthew,

    Welcome to the forum, for your information 265/60 x18" tyres, like the AT3, fit in the spare tyres position under the Disco no problem at all. It can get tricky with larger tyres though.

    I have that size AT3's on my D3 at present and they are near worn out, more than likely I will replace them with a set of the Bridgestone 697 AT's.
    Cheers,
    Terry

    why not go with some not aggressive muddies like the ST MAXX was quite happy with them after switching from AT3 on D3 if you want to do more "rugged trails" day trips muddies would be better
