						sport mode not showing
hi there. i removed my center consol.anothe story.when i put back i made the mistake of using a silicone spray on some parts
firstly the gears would not release from park.and the selector would not show any refernce to any gears selected in sport mode.
took apart and applied compressed air.now working out of reverse.
that stopped again.pulled out the shifter box and blew out with air, still not working.drives well but cant use sport.does anyone have any suggestions for me
thanks

Have you tried R&R'ing the electrical connector?
Sport mode is activated when a magnet attached to the lever gets close enough to a hall-effect proximity sensor which are normally very robust so not likely to ever fail. I don't know how the magnet is attached to the lever but I would not expect it to have been dislodged by the air blasts.
Can you cause an upshift/downshift or any sign of the attempt in the instrument cluster by moving the lever forwards/backwards whilst in the sport position to confirm that these proximity switches are still working?
Edit: The gear lever electronics might ignore upshift and downshift requests if sport mode is not active even though the gearbox ecu itself honours upshift and downshift requests without sport mode active if trigerred by steering wheel paddles or equivalent.
