    Fire extinguisher

I am putting my D3 together for shipping back across the ditch to Brisbane in late November...

I have had the fire extinguisher in the back in the slide drawers but it would not be much use in an emergency buried in there.

I am looking to put it inside, mounted on the floor at the base of the drivers seat.

Feeling underneath there are pipes/wires running under there but it appears there is enough room for some screws to poke though.

Has anyone else put their extinguisher there?

    Thanks

Mine is mounted in pretty much the same position, but directly behind the driver. I have mounted it on the front of the rh rear passenger seat mount, and it tilts forward with the seat. Any passengers have their feet over the top of the unit. No complaints re footroom so far.

Thanks guys...I think mine will be better in front of the drivers seat as I have the rear seats folded down to accommodate the Boab water container and our luggage...the rear is filled up with the Frontrunner drawers!

ps thanks for the photo Ian...my seats aren't electric so I don't have that panel at the front of the seat like yours

I've done something similar to Ian, albeit intending it to be a temporary solution so just zip tied it with heavy duty zip ties. So far it has been okay, although it much bigger at being 2.5 kg.

I put mine inside a wine bottle sock (you know, one of those ones made from wet suit material) and it sits upright in the champagne bottle holder on the passenger door behind the driver.

Easy to get to quickly if I need to bail out in an emergency. The door drink bottle holder is just the right size. Following my return from Cape York, I've decided to leave the fire extinguisher there permanently.

    Cheers

I do hope it is secured as it will decapitate you in an accident.

    what a mess

Gee its fun when the safety pin accidentally gets loosened and falls out mid trip and the car fills with white powder coating everything!!!
