biting the bullet - going to put steel pan on the D3

    Hi all,
I have bitten the bullet and ordered the steel sump kit. The supplier only had 5 litres of ATF but is getting mor in from an interstae branch. The question is how much do I need? I ma only intending to have the pan and filter replaced and then fill.

I have searched but I could not find a definitive answer.

    Thanks
    Mike

I did a full flush on mine at the same time as the steel pan conversion. Went through 12L of the oil.

If you're doing just the pan you'll get away with five, but there's really no point just doing the pan/filter and not at least a double flush.

ZF in Sydney have the full kit and fluid in 20 litre drums.

    Hi Rocmic,
I used the lifeguard 6 oil which I suspect is what you are chasing, I changed the oil used as mentioned about six litres and then did a second change about 500 to 750 klms later just so I felt like I had got at least some value out of the oil.
Make sure you have got a set of Torx allen shaped keys to get the front row of sump bolts out, they are quite tight and you can't get them with a standard socket set.
